Our Story

At Golden Rug Co., our journey began with a passion for fine handmade rugs and a dream to share that passion with the world. Our founder, Ali Amini, was born into a family with a rich history of carpet making in Iran. Growing up, he developed a fascination with the arts and a sharp business mind. Ali's journey took him from fashion design to the world of handmade rugs, where he honed his skills as a designer, maker, and repairer of hand-knotted and hand-woven rugs.

Our History

In 1980, Ali started his career as a fashion designer, running a clothing company that sold his designer fashion ware through a few specialty boutiques. However, his true passion lay in the world of handmade rugs. As a hobby, he began making, repairing, and designing hand-knotted and hand-woven rugs for his customers. To gain experience, Ali started from the roots, repairing and eventually working his way to designing carpets.

Our Journey

In 1992, Ali made the bold move to Canada, where he started building his name in the carpet industry. By 1997, he established Golden Rug Company in Vancouver. The journey did not stop there. Ali's reputation grew, and he became one of the most well-known and respected names in the Persian rug business. He continued to develop strong relationships with famous interior designers, and his customers ranged from all over North America.
