Our History
Maximilian Restaurant was founded in 1973 by Miroslav and Jana Brandejs, who emigrated from Czechoslovakia to Toronto. The couple eventually wound up in Maberly, Ontario, where Miroslav was a partner at a restaurant called "Old Europe" with a Polish couple. In the fall of 1973, Miroslav moved to Perth and opened Maximilian's at The Perth Hotel, naming the restaurant after King Maximilian I, who ruled Bavaria from 1806 to 1825. The Brandejs' tradition of excellence and dedication to serving authentic European cuisine has been carried on today by the current owners and staff of Maximilian Restaurant.
