Our Story
Our journey began in 2007 when regulations allowed Registered Hygienists to offer services in their own practices, removing the supervision requirement. Sisters Kim and Melanie, both Dalhousie University graduates, saw an opportunity to open The Edge Dental Hygiene Centre, Calgary's first Dental Hygiene Clinic. With over 20 years of combined experience in the field, they are active members of the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta (CRDHA) and the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA). Their passion for their work is evident in the high patient satisfaction they have achieved.
Our Team
Our team is dedicated to providing excellence in dental hygiene services. Kim and Melanie, the founders, are committed to staying on top of the latest technologies and education, ensuring that their patients receive the best possible care. Jacqueline, Kim's sister-in-law, has been with the Edge since its opening and is happy to assist with scheduling, navigating dental insurance, and providing emotional support during treatment. Together, our team is dedicated to providing a warm and welcoming environment that makes our patients feel valued and cared for.
Our Services

- Dental Hygiene Examinations: Always complementary and performed prior to your cleaning, our hygienists will assess the hard and soft tissues of your mouth, informing you of our findings.
- Oral Cancer Screenings: We perform oral cancer screenings at every visit, using the Velscope to detect abnormalities and referring to specialists as needed.
- Digital X-Rays: Our X-rays have over 80% less radiation than traditional X-rays and can be easily emailed to other dental professionals when necessary.
