At Flat Rapids Camp, we're proud to offer a unique and serene getaway experience on the beautiful French River in Ontario, Canada. Established in the 1960s, our camp has been a beloved destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts for generations. Nestled within the Crown-protected French River Heritage Park, we've preserved the natural beauty of the area while providing a range of amenities and activities to enhance your stay.
Our Campground and Accommodations
Our campground is situated on 160 acres of mature forest, Canadian Shield rock, and nearly a quarter-mile of southern-exposed French River waterfront. We offer a range of accommodation options to suit your needs, including cottage rentals and seasonal camping. Our cottages are fully equipped with linens, bedding, and a fully equipped kitchen. Each cottage has a beautiful view with decks overlooking the French River, and we provide BBQs with propane, picnic tables, and fire pits for campfires.
Cottage Rentals
Our cottage rentals are available from Victoria Day long weekend in May to Thanksgiving weekend in October. We have a range of cottages to choose from, each sleeping up to 5 or 7 people. Our cottage rentals are perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers looking for a relaxing getaway.

At Flat Rapids Camp, we offer a range of activities to enjoy, including:
- Boat, canoe, and paddle boat rentals to explore the French River
- Swimming and sunbathing on our sandy beach
- Fishing for a range of species, including Northern Pike, Walleye, Small-mouth Bass, and Muskie
- Campfires and s'mores-making at night
History and Location
The French River is the first designated Canadian Heritage River, and our camp is located just 8 kilometers from the French River Visitors Centre, which showcases the river's rich history and culture. We're situated just 45 minutes south of Sudbury and 1 hour north of Parry Sound, making us easily accessible from major cities in central Ontario.
