About Robbie Sheffman
Robbie Sheffman is a seasoned lawyer with a broad range of experience, having been called to the bar in British Columbia in 1992. His practice has spanned various areas, including business law, land use, construction, debtor-creditor, insolvency, contracts, and infrastructure projects. Additionally, he has a deep understanding of Canadian citizenship and immigration law, having spent decades practicing in this area.
Robbie's experience as a Chairperson of the Employment Insurance Board of Referees in Victoria, BC, has provided him with valuable insights into the importance of careful listening, effective communication, and practical problem-solving. During his tenure, he heard and issued written decisions on Employment Insurance appeals, conducted hearings, and directed the deliberations of the Board, a three-person administrative tribunal. This experience has equipped him with the ability to approach disputes with a unique perspective, combining his legal knowledge with his understanding of the complexities of human relationships.
Education and Community Involvement
Robbie's educational background includes a LL.B. from the University of Victoria and a B.A. in Mass Communications and Sociology from York University. He has also taught courses at the University of Victoria's Law School and the Law Society of British Columbia's Professional Legal Training Course.
Outside of his legal practice, Robbie is an avid golfer and has played keyboards in rock 'n roll bands. He has also been involved in various community organizations, including United Way of Greater Victoria Lawyers' Campaign, Greater Victoria Amateur Boxing Society, and Bays United Youth Soccer Association.

Robbie is a member of the Associate Civil Roster of Mediate BC, the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Victoria Bar Association. He is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association's National and British Columbia Alternative Dispute Resolution and Immigration Sections, as well as the British Columbia Workplace Investigations Section.
