Building a Strong Financial Future through Thoughtful Approaches.

At Dartmouth Day Care Centre, we are proud to have been providing quality childcare to families and children in the East and Central Dartmouth areas for over 45 years. As a not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors, we are committed to delivering exceptional childcare services that cater to the unique needs of every child.

Our Story

Our journey began in 1974, when we were incorporated and settled into the basement of St. Luke's Anglican Church on Veterans Avenue. We started small, with an enrollment of just 30 children, but our passion for providing quality childcare soon led to expansion. In 1987, we expanded to 33 Crichton Avenue, and in 1990, we moved the St. Luke's program to 28 Caledonia Road. Today, we proudly provide quality childcare to more than 60 families in the East and Central Dartmouth areas.

Our Mission

Our Centre provides a high-quality, inclusive early childhood education program that celebrates diversity, cultural respect, and community. We believe in creating a holistic framework that supports a nurturing environment for all children to reach their full potential. As a community-based organization, we are committed to serving the needs of families in the Dartmouth area, while adhering to the rules of the Day Care Act and its Regulations in the Province of Nova Scotia.

Our Philosophy

At Dartmouth Day Care Centre, our philosophy is simple: to provide a warm, safe, and stimulating environment that fosters growth, learning, and development. We believe that every child is unique and deserves a personalized approach that recognizes their individual needs and abilities. Our experienced and qualified early childhood educators work closely with parents and caregivers to create a tailored program that supports each child's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Our Programs

We offer a range of programs designed to cater to the specific needs of children at different stages of development. Our Toddler program, for children aged 18 months to 3 years, focuses on developing social skills, emotional intelligence, and cognitive abilities through play-based learning. Our Preschool program, for children aged 3 to 5 years, builds on these foundation skills, introducing new concepts and activities that prepare children for kindergarten.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to be engaging, interactive, and responsive to the needs of each child. We believe in creating a learning environment that is fun, inclusive, and stimulating, where children can explore, experiment, and learn at their own pace. Our curriculum is informed by the principles of the Nova Scotia Curriculum Framework for Early Childhood Education and is aligned with the goals and objectives of the Day Care Act.

Our Team

Our team of qualified early childhood educators is committed to providing exceptional care and education to every child. We believe in ongoing professional development, ensuring that our team stays up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and industry standards. Our team is dedicated to building strong relationships with families, creating a sense of community and belonging that makes all the difference in a child's early years.

Our Commitment to Quality

At Dartmouth Day Care Centre, we are committed to delivering high-quality childcare services that meet the highest standards of excellence. We believe in continuous improvement, regularly assessing and refining our programs and services to ensure that they remain responsive to the changing needs of families and children.
