Bob's Taxi is proud to be the largest and oldest cab company in Dartmouth, with over 185 cars in circulation. Together with our sister company, Blue Bell Taxi, we provide over 500,000 rides annually to the communities of Dartmouth, Cole Harbour, Eastern Passage, Halifax, Sackville, and the County. Our dedicated staff and drivers are committed to upholding the highest standards of service and safety. All of our drivers must adhere to Bob's code of conduct rules and complete a municipal vulnerable sector and criminal records check.

Our Services

At Bob's Taxi, we offer a wide range of services to meet your transportation needs. Whether you need a quick ride across town or a reliable airport transfer, we've got you covered.

  • 24 Hour Taxi Services: Our taxis are available 24/7, so you can always count on us to get you where you need to go.
  • Airport Services: We provide reliable airport transportation services to and from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
  • Parcel Pickup & Delivery: Need to send a package? We offer parcel pickup and delivery services for your convenience. The minimum charge for this service is $8.50.
  • Battery Boosting: If your car won't start, we offer battery boosting services for a minimum charge of $25.
  • Slim Jim (Locked Out of Vehicle): If you've locked your keys in your car, our drivers can help you get back in. This service is offered at your own risk, and has a minimum charge of $40. It is available only through 6 of our drivers.
  • Flat Rates to Out of Town Destinations: We offer flat rates for transportation to out of town destinations.

The Bob's Taxi App

Our official app is the Taxi Booking app for the city of Dartmouth, including services to and from Halifax Regional Municipality, Airport and all surrounding communities. The app makes it easy to book a taxi with just a tap of a button. With contactless payments, live tracking, and the ability to set up future rides, our app offers a convenient and efficient way to hail a cab. You can also save your common locations for quick access, and call our operator straight from the app for parties larger than 4, or for special needs or requests.

FAQs

*Q. What does "Searching" mean after I book a taxi? Is the app not working?*

A. The app is still working, it just means that it has not yet found a vehicle. Once it does, it should pop up with the car number.

*Q. Where do I write driver notes?*

A. You write them under "Help Driver" (any information that you think will be helpful for the driver to find you).

*Q. Where do I add how I am paying?*

A. You will find that under "Payment Type".

*Q. I don't want a van. How do I choose just a car?*

A. You would select that under "Car Type".

*Q. Am I able to do in-app payment?*

A. Yes, we offer In-app Payments.

*Q. How do I put in a drop-off location?*

A. At the top of the screen there is a bar that says "Destination". Touch it and another drop-down window will appear.

*Q. Can I contact the operator from my app?*

A. Yes. You need to touch the three lines in the top left corner (menu), then select "Call Operator".

*Q. Can I check my cab history?*

A. Yes. You need to touch the three lines in the top left corner (menu), then select "Bookings".

*Q. Can I add my favourite places so that I don't have to type it in every time?*

A. Yes. You need to touch the three lines in the top left corner (menu), then select "Favourites". This is where you can add as many locations as you would like.

*Q. How do I input a door that has a letter?*

A. After filling in an address, touch "More Info/Edit". Then add the letter after the number and hit "Save".

Customer Service Issues

Several customers have reported poor customer service, including rude dispatchers and drivers. Monica Nauss describes the dispatcher as "rude" and "seeming to hate her job." Avi Panday had a terrible experience with the customer service, with the operator hanging up on him when he asked about his status. That Girl Shelbyy also had a frustrating experience with the dispatcher, who didn't disclose important information about the booking process.

Booking Issues

Booking issues are another common complaint. That Girl Shelbyy booked a cab 45 minutes in advance, but was still waiting 20 minutes after her pickup time had passed. The dispatcher told her that bookings don't get sent to drivers until 10 minutes before the pickup time, which led to frustration and loss of pay.

Rude Drivers

Some customers have reported encountering rude drivers. Simbusle Diva describes a driver as "very rude" who told her "I don't own him." Monica Nauss had a driver who was wonderful and took the time to help someone in need.

Good Experiences

While there have been many negative experiences, some customers have had good experiences with Bob's Taxi.
