Welcome to the Okanagan Mental Health Services Society (OMHSS), a not-for-profit organization based in Kelowna, BC. Since 2001, we have been dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in the Central Okanagan area who struggle with serious and persistent mental health challenges. Our mission is to provide supportive housing and therapeutic work opportunities that foster a sense of community, purpose, and well-being.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for people in the Central Okanagan area who struggle with serious and persistent mental health challenges by providing supportive housing and therapeutic work. We strive to create an environment where individuals can find acceptance, comfort, and the support they need to manage their mental health challenges.

Supportive Housing Programs

At OMHSS, we offer longer-term subsidized housing for residents of Kelowna and the surrounding area. We currently operate six homes, each of which provides residents with access to staffing support for appointments, outings, shopping, laundry, cooking, and life skills training. We believe that having a stable and supportive living environment is essential for individuals managing mental health challenges.

Therapeutic Work Programs

At OMHSS, we recognize the importance of work in the recovery process. That's why we offer therapeutic work programs that provide individuals with mental health challenges the opportunity to learn new skills and build confidence. Our programs include Room By Room, a janitorial services program, and Yard By Yard, a lawn and garden care program. These contracts enable individuals to build up their resumes, socialize with others, and manage their financial independence.

Room By Room

Our Room By Room program offers janitorial services to Kelowna businesses. Our program graduates have an excellent reputation for doing an amazing job in the community. When you hire our services, you are not only receiving high-quality work, but you are also supporting our mission to provide supportive housing and therapeutic work opportunities.

Yard By Yard

Our Yard By Yard program offers lawn and garden care services to Kelowna businesses. Our program graduates are known for their fantastic reputation for doing an amazing job in the community. When you hire our services, you are not only receiving high-quality work, but you are also supporting our mission to provide supportive housing and therapeutic work opportunities.

Vocational Planning

At OMHSS, we recognize that every individual is unique, and we work closely with each person to develop a vocational plan that meets their needs and goals. We provide ongoing support and guidance as individuals navigate the job market and build their careers.

Partners and Donors

At OMHSS, we are grateful for the support we receive from BC Interior Health, the BC Housing Commission, Kelowna businesses, and individual donors. Your support enables us to continue providing critical services to the Kelowna community. We are a nationally registered charity, and tax receipts are provided for all donations.
