Empowering young minds, one play at a time
Who We Are
At Grandview Terrace Childcare Society, we are proud to be serving the Grandview-Woodland community since 1973. Our organization is committed to providing a range of safe, stimulating, and nurturing childcare programs that respect and embrace each child and family. Our programs are shaped by our history, the community we serve, our staff members, and our families, both past and present. We are located at 2075 Woodland Drive in Vancouver and are currently enrolling children in all our programs.
Our Programs
We offer a variety of programs designed to cater to the unique needs of each child. Our Daycare Program offers quality early childhood education with a focus on the Early Learning Framework and Emergent Curriculum. Our experienced teachers set up the environment to allow children to naturally learn and practice important skills in social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and creative areas.
Our 3 to 5 daycare program focuses on early learning framework and emergent curriculum. Teachers support growth and learning on a weekly basis by encouraging and implementing activities that interest children such as science and discovery, fine and gross motor, dramatic play, art, music, and dance, reading, and sports. We strive to foster an environment where each child feels comfortable in learning.
What is an Emergent Curriculum?
An emergent curriculum is one that builds upon the interests of children. Topics for study are captured from the talk of children, through community or family events, as well as the known interests of children (puddles, shadow, dinosaurs, etc.). Team planning is an essential component of the emergent curriculum. Teachers work together to formulate the possible directions of a project, the materials needed, and possible parent and/or community support and involvement.

Summer Program
Our Summer Program is an action-packed adventure! We do exciting field trips, exploring the sites and scenery of our great city. We do hiking, bowling, Science World visits, swimming, and more. Our summer program runs from July to August, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Staff
Our teachers and staff are the heart and soul of our program. Our staffing component is made up of the program coordinator, who oversees all the centers, and an assistant senior supervisor, who is on the floor working and supporting staff on a daily basis. We have special needs teachers, early childhood educators, and out of school care certified staff. We welcome volunteers and practicum students from many colleges such as Langara, Douglas College, MTI, Vancouver Community College, and Native Education College. Having students and volunteers enriches the quality of care that our families and children receive on a daily basis.
