Welcome to Banbury Tennis Club, your community tennis club located in the heart of Toronto, serving residents from the local area as well as those from Markham, Richmond Hill, and Mississauga. Our club is a warm and family-friendly community that has been serving the Toronto area for 50 years. Our beautiful park setting, complete with four lit courts, a clubhouse, washrooms with showers, and ample free parking, provides a tranquil and serene atmosphere that feels like being in the country.
At Banbury Tennis Club, we are proud of our excellent junior and adult programs, competitive interclub leagues, and highly competitive club tournaments. Our social events throughout the season are well-attended, and we have a reputation for nurturing young talent, with 22 juniors going on to receive full tennis scholarships at universities across the United States.
Our Coaches
Our coaches are a group of talented, accomplished, and compassionate professionals who strive to help you reach your potential. Our coaching staff includes Lionel Eli, our Director of Tennis and Operations, who has been coaching juniors and adults for over 28 years. He holds the highest Coach 3 certification with the Tennis Canada National Coaching Certification Program, USPTA Elite Professional Certification, and USPTA Wheelchair Tennis Certification. Additionally, Lionel is trained in Standard First Aid, CPR, and is a CanFitPro Fitness Specialist.
Membership and Lessons
If you're interested in becoming a member, we offer a variety of membership options, including junior, adult, and family memberships. Our membership is currently closed for 2024, but you can email us to join the waiting list. Our lessons and coaching services are provided by our talented coaching staff, who work hard to help you reach your goals. We offer private and group lessons, as well as junior programs and stringing and equipment services.
Court Use Rules
At Banbury Tennis Club, we have specific court use rules that include wearing full tennis attire and non-marking tennis shoes on the court, reserving courts online for 60-minute play periods, and observing club-supported tournaments, clinics, special events, and private lessons. Guests are welcome for a $10 fee, and members are not allowed to bring outside pros during club hours. Members may use hoppers or carts of balls on the courts only during specific hours or during lessons with a Banbury Tennis Club Pro.
Executive Committee
Our club is run by an executive committee that includes Charles Ivey (President), Julia Zhu (Vice President), Steve Zucker (Treasurer), Jacqueline Bai (Secretary), Tracy Hutcheon (Past President), and Lionel Eli (Tennis and Operations).
Club Rules
At Banbury Tennis Club, we have specific rules and policies that include our no-show policy, abuse and harassment policy, and membership fees. Our policies and rules are designed to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and friendly environment for all members.
