The Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS) is a voluntary membership organization that has been serving the interests of independent insurance brokers in Nova Scotia since 1949. With a rich history spanning over 75 years, IBANS has been dedicated to promoting the valuable role that brokers play in their communities and to their clients.

As a proud member of the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC), IBANS represents over 1,100 insurance brokers throughout the province, working to strengthen the insurance broker community and promote the insurance broker profession. Our mission is to provide a unified voice for our members, addressing common concerns and promoting the interests of the brokerage community.

Our Core Objectives

Our core objectives are to enable member brokers to approach stakeholders in an organized fashion with common concerns about insurance issues in Nova Scotia, to be a resource to government and industry partners, and to address the common concerns of the brokerage community. We provide services to our members in four key areas:

IBANS provides the Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) and other licensing courses, as well as online tutorials and textbooks, to help our members develop their skills and knowledge in the insurance industry.
