Located in the heart of Toronto, Sunburst Children's Centre is a non-profit charitable workplace childcare centre that has been providing high-quality childcare services to children from 0 to 5 years old for over 35 years. We are licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Education and proudly serve the children of federal government employees, as well as the surrounding community.
Our Philosophy
At Sunburst, we believe that every child is unique and deserving of a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters their physical, emotional, and intellectual growth. Our experienced and dedicated staff provide a warm and safe space where children can learn, play, and thrive. Our program is designed to promote social, gross motor, fine motor, creative, sensory, intellectual, and dramatic skills, all while encouraging independence, self-confidence, and self-esteem.
Our Staff
Our staff is our greatest asset, with many of our educators having spent decades honing their skills and developing strong relationships with our families. Our team is committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Meet some of our wonderful staff members:
- Cathy Orr, Executive Director and Registered Early Childhood Educator, has 31 years of service and is passionate about creating a sense of community and fostering open communication with families.
- Sue Masi, Assistant Director and Registered Early Childhood Educator, has 30 years of service and believes that Sunburst is a special place where children can learn, play, and develop to their full potential.
- Sophie, Registered Early Childhood Educator, has 19 years of service and is dedicated to fostering a warm and nurturing environment that supports the children's future.
Our Facilities
Our centre is situated near G. Ross Lord Park and features naturally shaded outdoor play areas, on-site security, a designated drop-off area, and more. We take pride in providing a safe and inviting space for our children to learn and grow.
