Sudbury District Law Association-Law Library

The Sudbury District Law Association (SDLA) is a voluntary organization of lawyers practicing in Northeastern Ontario, dedicated to serving its members and the community since 1923. Our mission is to provide a platform for lawyers to come together, share knowledge, and advocate for the interests of the legal community.

Our History

The SDLA was incorporated as a not-for-profit association in 1923 with the mandate to provide and maintain a District Law Library for the use of its members and to promote the general welfare and interests of the legal profession in the District of Sudbury. Today, we continue to provide valuable law library services and research, continuing legal education, and social events for our members.

Our Services

As a non-profit organization, we offer a range of services to our members, including access to a comprehensive law library, document delivery and interlibrary loan services, desktop computers with WestLawNext Canada and LexisAdvance QL database access, and Wi-Fi service within the library and lounge. Our members also have access to robing rooms and lockers, and can request will searches through our Will Check registry.

Our Commitment

We are committed to representing and advocating for the interests of the legal community towards the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, Federation of Ontario Law Associations, other professional organizations, the judiciary, media, and the general public. We work closely with the local judiciary and the Province of Ontario to continually improve the court system within the Province of Ontario for the benefit of all individuals of the District of Sudbury.

Our Members

Our members are a diverse group of lawyers from various practice areas who are dedicated to serving the community and promoting the interests of the legal profession. We welcome new members to our team, believing in the strength of numbers and the power of unity.
