Eskasoni Mental Health Services (EMHS) provides a wide range of services to the Mi'kmaq people of Eskasoni, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The organization offers culturally appropriate, community-based, and community-led mental health and addiction services across the lifespan. With a team of 32 staff members, EMHS provides a safe and confidential place for community members to address various issues, including mental wellness challenges. The organization's services are designed to ensure the well-being of all community members, providing a multitude of programs and services to reduce stigma and increase access to essential services. EMHS also utilizes a Fish Net Model, which takes a multi-pronged approach to mental wellness and challenges, and a Ladder of Care, featuring staff with lived experience, paraprofessionals, and professionals with various educational backgrounds.
