Welcome to our psychological services, where we are dedicated to helping children, youth, and young adults in Hamilton and the surrounding regions. Our mission is to provide psychoeducational assessments that offer valuable insights into the learning strengths and needs of students, enabling them to reach their full potential.
Our founder, Dr. Janice Tomlinson, is a registered psychologist and an experienced educational consultant with a Ph. D. from the University of Alberta. Our Services
At our psychological services, we specialize in providing psychoeducational assessments for children, teens, and young adults. Our assessments are designed to help students who may be struggling with learning, as well as those who need more challenges. Our services cater to students with a variety of needs, including:
1. Learning disabilities
2. Dyslexia
3. Developmental disabilities
4. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
5. Mental health issues
6. Gifted students
7. Students who learn more slowly
8. Students entering college or university
Our approach is centered around building a supportive and positive relationship with each child. We strive to ensure that every child feels comfortable during the assessment process and is able to do their best work. By collaborating with parents, educators, and other support personnel, we aim to develop a comprehensive understanding of each child's individual learning and the conditions that may affect their learning.
Psychoeducational Assessments
Our psychoeducational assessments are individual in-depth assessments designed to provide information about a person's cognitive ability, academic skills, and socio-emotional skills. The goal of the assessment is to determine if there are underlying conditions that are affecting a student's academic progress. By understanding their young person's learning strengths and difficulties early, parents and educators can provide the support necessary for success.
Learning Disability (LD) Assessment
Children and teens of average intelligence may experience significant difficulty in learning in some areas of academics, often in reading and/or mathematics. In earlier grades, children may have difficulty learning to read or learning mathematics. In the middle grades, they may have difficulty with reading comprehension, written expression, or mathematical calculations. Our Learning Disability (LD) Assessment aims to identify these difficulties and provide recommendations to support the student's learning.
In these challenging times, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our clients. We urge everyone to practice social distancing, wear masks, wash hands frequently, and stay home whenever possible. We look forward to working with you and your child to help them succeed in their learning journey.
