Transforming Client Vision into Reality, One Project at a Time
Welcome to the practice of Wendy Wine, a Registered Psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience in helping individuals and couples in downtown Toronto. My therapy office is conveniently located at Jarvis and Carlton Streets, near College subway station, and I offer evening appointments and free 30-minute consultations to new clients.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in relational psychotherapy, which recognizes the significant influence of relationships and social contexts on people's difficulties, patterns, and emotional themes. I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental environment where clients can feel deeply understood without the use of pathologizing frameworks. By making sense of each individual's vulnerabilities and experiences in context, we can work collaboratively to facilitate personal growth, insight, and resiliency. I am grateful for the many referrals I receive from current and former clients who have found our work together meaningful and impactful.
Training and Experience: A Dedicated and Continually Growing Therapist
I graduated from the four-year training program in psychotherapy at the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy in 2001. My training involved rigorous theoretical study, extensive clinical practice, and many hours of group and personal therapeutic work. I was also an intern at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy's student counselling service during my training.
My therapeutic style is influenced by a range of contemporary psychoanalytic, developmental, and feminist approaches. I have a longstanding interest in clinical applications of mindfulness, compassion, and other aspects of Buddhist psychology. I am committed to continually growing as a therapist through reading, research, supervision, and attending professional workshops.
In addition to my private practice, I have been a group facilitator at Sheena's Place, a service for people with eating disorders, for 12 years (2002-2013). I have facilitated various groups on emotional eating and "Next Steps to Recovery, " an advanced eating disorder recovery group.
Credentials: Registered Psychotherapist and Member of Professional Associations
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy, adhering to its code of ethics.
