Welcome to Hatchet and Seed, a family-owned and operated business located in the beautiful capital region of British Columbia. Since 2011, we have been transforming under-utilized spaces into abundant food-producing landscapes. Our mission is to create organic landscapes that not only look amazing but also produce food year-round. We pride ourselves on being a regenerative work environment for our staff, providing living wages, meaningful work, health & dental benefits for full-time staff, and access to unique organic fruit & vegetables.

Our team specializes in designing and building edible landscapes (or foodscapes) that combine the aesthetics of formal landscaping features with the functionality of a 'kitchen garden' and 'home orchard'. Our services provide year-round access to fresh, nutrient-dense fruit and vegetables, while giving our clients a chance to get outside more often and engage with nature. We integrate seating spaces, patios, trellises, arbors, fruit trees, ponds, vegetable boxes, water collection, and even chickens into beautiful, productive landscapes that nourish the belly and the soul.

Our business is run by Solara and Tayler, who have a passion for creating organic landscapes that produce food year-round. Our amazing crew and talented sub-contractors share our vision, and together, we specialize in creating Edible Landscapes that look amazing. Our collective training and decades of experience bring a wide variety of unique skills and knowledge to your project. From Red Seal Horticulture Training to Permaculture Design Certificates, we have the skills and experience to transform your space.
