Caring for Your Animals since 1946

Kerrisdale Veterinary Hospital has been a trusted name in animal care in Vancouver, British Columbia since 1946. Our clinic, which was originally established as a dog clinic, is one of the oldest continuously operating veterinary facilities in the city. We have built a reputation for providing reliable and compassionate care to our clients in the Lower Mainland, with many of them coming from as far as Yukon.

Our clinic is currently operated by Dr. Michael Dodds, who took over from his father, Dr. James Dodds, in 2003. Dr. James Dodds served as the Veterinary Medical Director of a large pharmaceutical company before assuming the stewardship of the clinic. Our clinic's philosophy is based on regular health exams, proper nutrition, judicious use of vaccinations, parasite control, and dental care. We are dedicated to life-stage wellness and offer an array of testing and treatment options for pets.

Our Services

At Kerrisdale Veterinary Hospital, we offer a wide range of medical and surgical services for pets. Our services include general checkups, vaccinations, dental care, parasite control, and life-stage wellness programs. We also offer specialized services such as orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, and diagnostic imaging. Our clinic is equipped with modern facilities and technology to ensure that we can provide the best possible care for our patients.

One of our primary goals is to provide optimal medical, surgical, and rehabilitative support until our patients recover. Our team of experienced veterinarians and support staff are dedicated to ensuring that every patient receives the care and attention they deserve. We understand that pets are members of the family, and we treat every patient with the same level of care and compassion that we would our own pets.

Meet Our Team

Our team of veterinarians is led by Dr. Michael Dodds, who grew up in Kerrisdale and attended both Kerrisdale Elementary School and Point Grey Secondary School. Dr. Dodds received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Animal Science from the University of British Columbia and his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Glasgow in Scotland.

Our team also includes Dr. Janette Craven, an accomplished equestrian specializing in dressage, and Dr. Michelle Chen, who grew up in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Melbourne with distinction. Our veterinarians are supported by a team of experienced veterinary technicians and administrative staff.

At Kerrisdale Veterinary Hospital, we believe that having a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences one can have. Our team is committed to providing the best possible care for our patients and supporting pet owners through every stage of their pet's life.
