Queen's Park Child Care Centre has been a trusted provider of licensed, not-for-profit child care in downtown Toronto since 1986. Originally established as one of Ontario's first on-site employee child care centres, we relocated to our current location at 7 Queen's Park Crescent East in 2019. Our facility offers a safe, nurturing environment for 88 children aged birth to five years, with dedicated spaces for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Our team of 19 Registered Early Childhood Educators and two assistants implement play-based programming aligned with the Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) framework. We maintain provincial licensing standards through annual Ministry of Education inspections and participate in Toronto Children's Services Quality Assurance assessments.Our holistic approach emphasizes social-emotional development, cultural inclusivity, and physical wellness through structured outdoor activities. Nut-safe meals are prepared daily by a certified cook following Canada Food Guide guidelines. We prioritize partnerships with families and communities, offering bi-weekly yoga and music programs to enhance child development. Our board of directors includes parent representatives who help shape our policies and operations. With over three decades of experience, we remain committed to fostering lifelong learning through relationship-based care.

Infant Care
Our infant program (0-18 months) provides a nurturing environment with age-appropriate activities and materials. Staff focus on sensory development, motor skills, and early language acquisition through personalized care routines. Certified educators maintain low child-to-staff ratios to ensure individual attention and secure attachment formation.
Toddler Programs
For 18-month to 2.5-year-olds, our toddler program emphasizes social-emotional development and emerging independence. Structured play activities promote language acquisition, fine motor skills, and cooperative play. Educators use positive guidance techniques to support emotional regulation and peer interactions.
Preschool Education
Our preschool program (2.5-5 years) follows the ELECT framework to develop school readiness skills. Children engage in literacy, numeracy, and science activities through play-based learning. Weekly OPP visits and field trips enhance community awareness and social development.
Nut-Free Meals
Daily meals and snacks follow Canada Food Guide recommendations with a certified cook preparing all items on-site. Our peanut/nut-free policy ensures safety for children with allergies. Menus rotate every four weeks and are developed in consultation with a registered dietitian.
Outdoor Activities
Children access two redesigned outdoor playgrounds twice daily for minimum 2-hour sessions. Equipment includes sandboxes, bikes, and age-appropriate play structures. Outdoor programming focuses on gross motor development, environmental awareness, and physical literacy in accordance with provincial wellness standards.

Marie Thomson, RECE, leads our centre with over 25 years of early childhood education experience. She oversees program quality, staff development, and community partnerships while maintaining compliance with provincial licensing standards.

Kendra Weiser, RECE, guides curriculum development and instructional practices. With expertise in play-based learning, she supports staff in implementing the ELECT framework and individualized learning plans for each child.

Pamela Viera, RECE, manages daily operations and parent communications. She coordinates the waitlist process, maintains records, and ensures smooth administrative functions while maintaining her RECE certification.
Questions
What age groups do you serve?
We provide care for children from birth to age 5, with separate programs for infants (0-18 months), toddlers (18 months-2.5 years), and preschoolers (2.5-5 years).
How do I join the waitlist?
Complete our online application form to add your child's name to our waitlist. Priority is given to Ontario Public Service employees, with infant care wait times typically 1.5-2 years.
Are part-time care options available?
We currently only offer full-time care spaces on a first-come basis. Part-time arrangements are not available at this time.
What food safety measures are in place?
Our facility is peanut/nut-free with all meals prepared on-site by a certified cook following Canada Food Guide guidelines. Menus rotate every four weeks and accommodate special dietary needs when possible.
What happens during statutory holidays?
The centre is closed on all statutory holidays including New Year's Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holidays.
