Thornhill Child Care Society, established on December 2nd, 1974, is a non-profit organization committed to providing high-quality child care services to the community. Our society is run by a volunteer Board of Directors, many of whom are residents utilizing our child care centers or day home program. We believe that every child deserves access to quality child care, and we strive to create a supportive, positive, and educational experience for both the child and family.
Our programs are designed to enhance the development of children's sense of security, self-worth, self-respect, self-sufficiency, and self-control. We provide an integrated program that caters to children with specialized needs, offering individual programming to help them grow physically, intellectually, socially, and emotionally.
At Thornhill Child Care Society, we are dedicated to providing a secure, caring, quality learning environment for infants through to school-age children. Our focus is to deliver developmentally appropriate programs that are accessible to all families, with a commitment to being an environment where children and families can be nurtured.
Our Services
We offer a variety of services tailored to meet the needs of children and families in our community. Our services include:
1. Child Care Centers: We operate multiple child care centers located in Centre Street N, Dover, Bowness, Montgomery, Lumino Centre, VIK Academy, Haysboro, and Ogden. These centers provide a safe and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow.
2. Family Dayhomes: Our family dayhomes are licensed and regulated homes that provide a nurturing and educational environment for children. Our dayhome educators are carefully selected and trained to provide quality child care.
3. ECS/Kindergarten Care: We offer before and after school care for children attending kindergarten. Our programs are designed to complement the kindergarten curriculum and provide a smooth transition for children from home to school.
4. Parent Education: We provide parent education workshops and resources to support parents in their role as their child's first teacher. Our workshops cover various topics, including ADHD, aggression, autism, biting, divorce and separation, first aid, new baby, nutrition, ODD, positive guidance, separation anxiety, sexuality, sleep, speech development, toilet training, stress management, and more.
5. Community Resources: We connect families with community resources, including health services, doctors accepting new patients, medical clinics, counselling services, family support, immigration services, crisis support, emergency crisis links, food support, community food programs, and trauma resources.
