The Roving Veterinarian

Welcome to the Slocan Valley's Homeopathic and Holistic Veterinary house call service, formerly known as The Roving Vet. We are dedicated to providing compassionate, holistic healthcare for your beloved pets in the comfort of your own home. Although primarily focused on small animals, our services extend to animals of all shapes and sizes.

Dr. Shuli Krakauer, a homeopathic veterinarian, graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1997 and soon developed a profound interest in alternative medicine, particularly homeopathy. After gaining experience in conventional medicine through rural and emergency practices, she decided to pursue her passion for homeopathy by completing the International Veterinary Acupuncture course and certification program in 1999, and the Animal Natural Health Center Homeopathy program in 2001. Dr. Shuli continues to expand her knowledge by participating in advanced seminars with internationally renowned homeopaths.

Dr. Shuli's love for animals extends beyond her practice, as she has volunteered with Side by Side Homeopathy, a group dedicated to treating addiction in the downtown east side, and has taught meditation at Alouette women's prison. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter Esther and her dogs Abby and Finn, as well as her cats Tibby and Slush. In her free time, she plays the accordion, practices contact improvisational dance, and knits.

Although we are primarily a small animal vet, Dr. Shuli will use homeopathy in conjunction with your conventional vet diagnosis or treatment to support any animal, even two-legged ones! We are excited to bring our house call services to the Slocan Valley and look forward to opening a home office to see patients for holistic veterinary treatments soon.

Services Offered

We offer a variety of services tailored to meet the unique needs of your pet. Our holistic approach emphasizes preventative care, and our services include:

*Homeopathic Treatment: Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that uses highly diluted substances to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities. Dr. Shuli spends ample time analyzing each case and discussing vaccination recommendations and diet changes during the initial intake, which is 1-1.5 hours and costs $240.*

*Acupuncture: Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the body's natural healing process. Follow-up acupuncture sessions are $126.*

*Diagnostics: We offer a range of diagnostic tests that can be performed in the comfort of your own home, including blood tests, urinalysis, and fecal examinations. For more advanced diagnostic tests such as x-rays or surgery, we will refer you to a clinic in your area.*

*Full Service Medicine & Surgery: In the event that your pet requires surgery, we will refer you to a clinic in your area for the procedure and provide post-operative care at your home.*

*Healthy Lifestyle: We believe that preventative care is the best way to ensure a long and healthy life for your pet. We offer diet recommendations, vaccination information, and tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle for your pet.*
